Aspen
Fashion, 10th Mtn Division and gilded town
This is a blurred view of the current color sketch of my upcoming Aspen poster. It will continue to slightly evolve detail wise, but it's pretty much there and is ready to pre-order if you'd like to secure a first, second or third numbered edition.
My Aspen research trip was in Feb 2024. So many elegant women's one-piece fur trimmed ski outfits on and off the hill. The contrast of the luxury mannequins within the same view of the rugged and rifled 1Oth Mtn. Division statue in Gondola Plaza all a few feet away from the end of the ski run was striking. After getting off Silver Queen gondola at the top I saw the big dual stick nest sculpture and knew I'd want to incorporate that also. Then skiing down Little Nell I felt like if I didn't put on the brakes I would literally ski straight down Hunter Street and not stop til I hit the police station. The main run and the street lined up perfectly. No wonder the 10th Mtn soldiers could visualize a future ski lift on that hill while drinking at the Hotel Jerome. Aspen is well branded with Black. Second color had to be gold.
More that I will work into this poster: the nearly one hundred shrines hidden in the trees on Ajax. Plus some early Aspen history. Suggestions welcome, let me know soon!
